The recent software tester job market survey reveals a strong emphasis on mid- to senior-level expertise, with 67% of direct‐hire roles targeting professionals with 5+ years of experience and 17% for staff/principal engineers. Amazon dominates hiring (50%), followed by Fortinet (25%), Juniper Networks (17%), Meta, and General Motors. 

California remains the epicenter, particularly the Bay Area and Orange County, accounting for half of all openings, with a small share (8%) of remote roles. 

Automation proficiency (Selenium, Cypress, CI/CD) is nearly universal (92%), while manual testing skills appear in three-quarters of listings. 

Scripting languages (Python, Java, C#), cloud/infrastructure platforms (Azure, Oracle Cloud), performance testing, and leadership abilities round out the most sought-after competencies.
